The best pro gaming to watch this weekend

The Dota 2 Kiev Major wrapped up last weekend with OG defeating 3-2 to take home their fourth Major crown and the $1 million prize pool. However, there’s still plenty of action to come from the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational to the CS:GO Intel Extreme Masters. We even have the Hearthstone China vs. Europe tournament to look forward to. All the details on this weekend’s events can be found below.

League of Legends: Mid-Season Invitational

The Mid-Season Invitational kicked off with eight teams battling for the chance to advance to the main event in Rio de Janeiro. GIGABYTE Marines will play this Saturday against the loser of the round two series between Flash Wolves and Supermassive. Meanwhile, the winner of Saturday’s match will advance to the MSI Group Stage, so both teams will need to be at their best. GIGABYTE surprised many fans this week when they managed to take two wins away from TSM, but they failed to take the series. Jungler Levi will be aiming to use his creative pathing once again this weekend, so expect plenty of jungle antics in round three of the Play-In stage. The full schedule and stream can be found onLoL Esports.

Rocket League: RLCS Regional Championships

The Rocket League RLCS Championships return this weekend and players will be fighting for their share of $25,000 prize pool and a spot in the Season 3 World Championship. The top two teams from NA and EU will also get guaranteed spots next season, which puts even more pressure on the teams this weekend. The action kicks off in North America this Saturday at 12:00 PDT / 21:00 CEST, while Europe closes out the weekend this Sunday at 09:00 PDT / 18:00 CEST. Tune into all the latest action over on Twitch to find out which team will punch their ticket to Los Angeles.

CS:GO: Intel Extreme Masters XII—Sydney

Day one of Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017 concluded with SK Gaming and Astralis taking the lead. SK Gaming lived up to expectations as they quickly dismantled ViCi by consistently outgunning them. ViCi struggled to produce a positive result against the competition favourites and SK closed out the series 16:6. Meanwhile, Astralis notched a victory over IEM’s local representatives, Chiefs Esports. Chiefs did find some success in securing bomb plants, but this was fairly short-lived, as Astralis started winning consecutive rounds. Astralis were on top form and they crushed the Chiefs in a dominant 16:5 victory. This weekend’s full schedule and stream can be found by heading over to IEM’s official site.

Overwatch: Apex Season 3

The Overwatch Apex Season 3 kicked off in Korea last week and Lunatic Hai are currently in the lead in the Group A bracket after they beat Team KongDoo Panthera 3-2. Rogue will need to land a critical blow to Mighty AOD if they wish to rival Lunatic Hai for first place. Team KongDoo Uncia will face X-6 Gaming at 03:00 PDT / 12:00 CEST, while Rogue will clash with Mighty AOD at 04:30 PDT / 13:30 CEST. Meanwhile, EnVyUs will start their journey on May 16th where they will battle it out against the likes of Meta Athena and BK Stars. Make sure to check out the full stream over on Twitch.

Hearthstone: Global Games

The Hearthstone Global Games tournament is well underway, and a few teams have begun to establish themselves in the early stages of the tournament. Group C’s round three matches concluded yesterday for US viewers, but those of you in Europe can catch all the action today at 03:00 CEST. The USA are off to the best start out of anyone in the Global Games so far—securing seven wins in total and only dropping one game. It’s a long road ahead for the pros and every team will be fighting hard to secure the $300,000 prize pool. The full schedule and stream for week four can be found here.

Hearthstone: China vs. Europe

The fourth Hearthstone vs. China tournament began its group stage yesterday and will continue until May 10th. Europe was undefeated for three years straight before China retorted with a championship win last year. Bohan “Lovelychook” Zhang dethroned former champion Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh and drove home his Ferrari sports car prize. This year’s CN vs. EU has made the Ferrari winnable by all, so every player will need to be at their best if they wish to drive home in style. A mix of invites and tournament winners will represent the host nation, most notably Blizzcon semi-finalist Jason “JazonZhou” Zhou and reigning champion Lovelychook. Group play resumes today at 03:00 PDT / 15:00 CEST, so make sure you check out the stream over on Twitch.

Heroes of the Storm: Global Championship

The Heroes of the Storm Global Championship begins week ten of play this weekend and the top teams from EU and NA aim to continue their dominance. Gale Force will need to secure a decisive win over Tempo Storm and B-Step this weekend if they want to make a claim for top spot. Meanwhile, Dignitas will be looking to snag a win over Fnatic after being knocked down to second place. You can check out the standings for each region and view the tournament schedule for your area over on the Heroes of the Storm’s official site.

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds developer already looking to port the game to Xbox One

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds developers already have plans to bring the multiplayer survival shooter to consoles.

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds is the latest Steam, and Twitch phenomenonthat’s out of reach for most console players, for the simple reason it’s a PC-only game for now.

But this won’t be the case forever, and developer Bluehole is already looking into porting it to Xbox One. Creative director Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene confirmed to Business Insider that a console version is not out of the question.

“We have a team working already on looking to port it to at least the Xbox [One],” he told the site. “We’re looking at both consoles of course, but we have no time frame for both.”

“We have no time frame yet exactly on Xbox [One] or PlayStation [4], but we are looking at it,” he reiterated.

When they do decide to focus on making a console port, it won’t be a massive undertaking, thanks to the fact the game uses Unreal Engine 4. “Porting to consoles isn’t that hard. It [Unreal Engine 4] is a great engine to use for multiplatform,” he said.

Right now, the focus is on getting the PC version out of Early Access, which Greene previously said would take five or six months. That’s where the majority of resources are going.

Prey reviews are starting to hit – the scores so far

You’re probably wondering why you haven’t seen any Prey reviews yet, that’s because Bethesda only sent review code a day before the embargo, as per the publisher’s new review code policy.

That said, some copies were out in the wild ahead of the street date, so we do have a couple of review scores. They’re very positive, but there aren’t many of them just yet.

Here are the ones we spotted:

(Scores are out of ten unless where noted)

We’ll update the story with more reviews as they become available.

Prey is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Xbox Scorpio’s dev kit has a FPS counter, fans demand it for the retail version too

People are losing their minds for the little frame rate counter on the front of the Scorpio dev kit, something that PC gamers have taken for granted.

When you’re gaming on a PC, you can pop up a little counter in the corner of your screen that tells you exactly what your frame rate is at any time, you can use that to tweak your performance, but a lot of people just use it as a vanity thing, to see how many frames they can grind out with their uber-gaming PC’s. Nothing wrong with that, it’s always interesting to see how well games are performing.

Console players, however, are more used to just taking what they get – assuming they’re getting good performance, but not really worrying a whole lot about graphical settings or trying to optimize or improve things, because it’s just a different world, there’s less of a tweaking mentality. With the Scorpio coming along and claiming to be an absolute beast in terms of performance, it’s no wonder gamers are saying “Prove it.”

It makes perfect sense why developers would want to know the frame rates, so they can see which parts of the game are slowing down and where they need to optimize, but players want this feature to stick around. It really holds the hardware makers, and software makers, feet to the fire. You want to claim this is the most powerful? If we’re paying huge bucks for an elite-tier console, of course we want to see how it’s performing in real-time, if for no other reason than validation and gratification.

The kit sports a real-time clock and battery backup, as well as an OLED screen with navigation button on the front of the box and five programmable buttons,” revealed Gamasutra. “This seems like a small but meaningful quality-of-life improvement for devs: if you’re working with Scorpio dev kits, you should be able to set them up to display useful data like, says, frames per second, at a glance.

These GTA Online NPCs have vanished from the game and players can’t figure out why

Something really odd has happened. GTA Online players found all of the convenience store and liquor store cashiers to have vanished from the game yesterday.

It’s been more than 12 hours since the event took place and these characters are still missing.

No one really knows the reason behind the abrupt vanishing of these NPCs and are flummoxed by it.

There’s more than 12 such stores spread across Los Santos, that players can rob. However, none of them have a cashier right now.

Robbing these stores are often part of the daily objectives and GTA Online’s tutorial also require interacting with them for being completed. Hence, it is a major issue and people are left wondering why it has happened.

There are more issues with the game atm, with players being unable to organize their cars in garages, and many PC players having trouble issuing bounties.

These might just be bugs but Rockstar is yet to confirm any of these. We’ll update this article if and when Rockstar issues one or fixes the issues.

Internet Divides Over Model’s Controversial Video With Toddler

A video dubbed ‘sick’ by keyboard warriors, showing an Instagram model allowing a toddler to ‘grope’ her breast, has gone viral.

Toronto-based model, Tillie Medland posted the video in question to Instagram less than a day ago.

Since, she has received a barrage of abuse from online commentators, who have chosen to watch the video and publicly shame Tillie for a simple act of affection.

A post shared by Tillie Medland (@tilliemedland) on

At the time of writing, Tillie’s video has been viewed nearly 40,000 times, with numerous people condemning her actions as she plays with the youngster.
Instagram user, elwood_z34 wrote:
That’s disgusting that you didn’t stop him. If that was a little girl feeling up a guy it would be all over the news. You’re a pervert.

A post shared by Tillie Medland (@tilliemedland) on

steenamareena dubbed it ‘fucking sick’, adding:
You need serious help to allow something like this to happen. I am so disturbed. This chick and the kids parents need to be locked up.
However, the Canadian model, from the Ontario province, captioned the photograph affectionately, writing ‘Ohh Jetty’ and sharing some crying laughing emoji faces.

A post shared by Tillie Medland (@tilliemedland) on

There is no evidence to suggest anything untoward is taking place in an inappropriate manner.
Yet some people still feel the need to publicly shame Tillie from behind the safety of their iPhone screens.
Perhaps, rather than keyboard warriors directing their anger at Tillie, they should consider why they feel the need to sexualise the behaviour of an innocent young toddler.

A post shared by Tillie Medland (@tilliemedland) on

Let this be a lesson not to jump to conclusions on social media and condemn those who choose to share an innocent moment of affection.
After all we, as a society, are so quick to comment on a bunch of pixels, failing to remember that real people are posting the pictures.
UNILAD has contacted Tillie for comment.

People Are Going Abroad And Getting Their Bums Out For No F*cking Reason

We’ve been graced by a shit ton of god awful trends already in 2017 and it looks like we now have
a new contender.
Cheeky Exploits‘ is an Instagram account which is simply dedicated to ‘making the world happier through butts’ *sigh*.

Essentially it involves first world travellers pulling down their trousers/shorts/whatever the fuck else they’re wearing and posing for a photo. Creative, right?
The page, which has over 86,000 followers, regularly shares snaps of people’s asses from around the world, because why would you want to go and actually experience, say, The Northern Lights, when you can just moon there instead?

The trend, which appears to have started in America, pretty much sums up everything that’s wrong with our generation. Too much privilege and very little respect for other people or cultures.
You’d have thought that after a young British backpacker was jailed for three days in Malaysia after stripping on a sacred mountain, it would have a served as a bit of a warning.

But alas, it hasn’t and the tragic travel trend or the ‘belfie’ looks like it could be around for some time.
What a time to be alive, ay?
